Since becoming Music Director and Founder of Camerata Ireland
in 1999, Barry Douglas is establishing a worldwide
reputation as a conductor - uniting his talents as soloist and
chamber musician with his passionate and imaginative approach
to music making.
With Camerata Ireland, Barry Douglas regularly
tours Europe, the US and South America and this season he will
give concerts in Dublin, Paris and London as part of the second
year of their International Series. They will return to the
US in March 08 for a month-long tour revisiting venues from
their 2005 tour and adding new venues and audiences including
key cities such as Boston. They have just completed recording
all the Beethoven Concerti with the last disc (Beethoven Piano
Concerto No.3 and the Triple Concerto) being released this autumn.
His recent conducting successes include his debut with the Indianapolis
Symphony Orchestra last season which resulted in an immediate
reinvitation and he has just finished a week with the Lithuanian
Chamber Orchestra which will lead to projects next season and
beyond. He makes his debut with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields
at the Mostly Mozart Festival, London in Summer 2008 and with
the I Pommerigi di Milano the following autumn.
As a pianist Barry Douglas continues to work
internationally with all the major orchestras and conductors
