The
Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra – founded in
1947 as a Radio Studio Orchestra with a view to record mainly
the radio archives (thousands of minutes of recordings), the
ensemble has also performed in concerts, its rich repertoire
including works from various periods and genres, from operatic
and orchestral music to oratorios and concert opuses.
In 1990 the ensemble became a Mozartian chamber orchestra, a
formula which has enabled it to continue performing both in
recordings and in concert. The numerous world premières
of Romanian and international contemporary music speak of the
ensemble’s dedication to the 20th century music. Over
the years, it has attracted most of the leading Romanian conductors
- Silvestri, Rodan, C. Bobescu, Litvin, Ludovic Bács
(much credited with developing and refining the artistic performance
of the ensemble, he is currently Permanent Guest Conductor),
Cristian Brâncusi, Permanent Conductor since 1983. Among
the Guest Conductors one can name Horia Andreescu, Gheorghe
Costin, Cristian Mandeal, Ilarion Ionescu-Galati, Camil Marinescu,
