APPLICATION
RULES
The 2009 "GEORGE ENESCU"
International Competition for Piano, Violin
and Composition is open to participants of all nationalities,
born after August 1st, 1976. No exception to this age
limit is accepted.
The application deadline is 1st of July, 2009 (mail date).

Mentioning: for the "GEORGE ENESCU" International
Competition.
The application must also include the following:
• Copy of birth certificate
• Curriculum Vitae
• Two recent photographs (6cm x 9cm)
• Letter of recommendation given by an outstanding professor
• Application form filled in, with the definitive repertoire
• Bank receipt certifying the payment of the participation
fee
Each competitor will receive the official confirmation and invitation
no later than August 1st.
By signing the application form for the competition,
each competitor agrees with all terms of the present regulations.
No competitor should be engaged in any other professional commitments
during the competition.

PARTICIPATION
FEE
The participation fee for the 2009
"GEORGE ENESCU" International Piano and Violin Competition
is 100 Euro.
The participation fee is payable to ARTEXIM
- Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) Sect. 1

The participation fee will be paid in Euro.
The participation fee will not be refunded in case of non-participation.
PARTICIPATION
CONDITIONS
The competitors will travel at their own expense.
The organizers provide free hotel accommodation for the competitors,
for as long as they are engaged in the competition. Rooms will
be available starting August 28th, 2009, 12.00 a.m.
Competitors may also obtain, upon request, a list of hotels
and lodgings in Bucharest, at their own expense.
Each competitor has to be present at the Board of the Competition
Office one day before the drawing of lots.

THE
DRAWING OF LOTS
The drawing of lots will establish the order
of play in the competition, and it will take place on the 29th
of August 2009, in the presence of a member of the Competition
Board.
In case of an extreme situation, only the Competition Board
is entitled to change the order decided by the drawing of lots.
If any competitor would not be able to attend the draw due to
reasons beyond his control, a member of the Competition Board
will draw his order number .

THE
JURY
The jury includes outstanding musicians from
Romania and abroad. Its activity is based on the Competition
Rules, following the instructions of the Statute of World Federation
of Musical International Competitions.
The jury decides the prize winners of each section of the competition.
The jury reserves the right not to award a prize, and its decisions
are final.
In case of parity of opinions, the president of the jury takes
the final decision.
The final ceremony will take place on September 6th 2009,
in the Competition Gala Concert.
Any contact between the jury members and competitors still actively
involved in the competition is forbidden

REHEARSALS
AND PRACTICE
For PIANO competition, each candidate is entitled to practice for 4 hours, starting one day preceding the first round.
For the Violin Competition, an official accompanist
will be at the disposal of the competitors if such request is
specified in their application form. In this case, each competitor
is entitled to rehearse for two hours with the accompanist,
for each round.
Additional rehearsal time may be asked for and will be paid
by the competitor. One hour of additional rehearsal costs
50 Euro.
Competitors who bring their own accompanist must state their
full name and correct address in the registration forms. The
accompanist’s transport and accommodation costs are supported
by the competitor.

PRIZES
The jury decides which prizes are going to
be awarded for each section of this competition.
The jury can decide not to award a certain prize.
The prizes are indivisible.
The first prize will be entitled "The GEORGE ENESCU
International Competition - Grand Prix".
The prizes of each performing section of the 2009 "George
Enescu" International Competition are:
First prize -
15,000 Euro
Second prize - 10,000 Euro
Third prize -
5,000 Euro
The Erbiceanu Cultural Foundation will provide a "Constanta
Erbiceanu" Prize, worth EUR 2500, for the highest ranking romanian
competitor in the piano competition of the 19th Edition of the
George Enescu Competition and Festival. The awarding will take
place during the Winner Gala on September 6, 2009.
For the Composition Section of the 2009 "George
Enescu" International Competition the following prizes
will be awarded:
Prize - for symphonic music section: 10.000
Euro
Prize - for chamber music section: 7.000
Euro
For the Piano competition: a prize of 6,000 Euro
will be awarded for the best performance of one of the piano
Sonatas by George Enescu (no.1 or no.3).
For the Violin competition: a prize of 6,000
Euro will be awarded for the best performance of the
George Enescu violin sonata no.3 or the Suite for
violin and piano "Impressions from Childhood".
A Prize in amount of Euro 3,000 will be awarded
to the best accompanist performing music for violin and piano
by George Enescu.
The Prize “Ion Voicu” awarded by
the International Foundation ION VOICU for violin competition.
There will be other prizes on behalf of sponsors.
The winners will also perform in the frame of the 2009 edition
of the “George Enescu” Festival, which is taking
place in the same time with the competition; there will be concerts
organized in the following cities of Romania: Iasi, Cluj, Timisoara
and Brasov. The organizers will provide the local travel and
accommodation.
A winner is entitled to receive several prizes.
The Board of International Festivals and Competitions reserves
the copy rights for all TV and Radio broadcasting, photographs,
filming and recording of all the performances within the rounds
of the Competition, including the final concert. In this situation,
the competitors will not receive special fees.
Laureates will be presented and first prize winners will perform
at the Gala Concert, which will take place on September
6th 2009 in the frame of the "George Enescu"
International Festival.
