The general public will enjoy for the first time, at the Enescu Festival 2017, ten days of concerts in the series 21st Century Music, in a new concept, which will bring to the stage of the Radio Hall some of the most important contemporary creations in novel performances. Thirty-one of the most influential contemporary composers of the moment will participate, in Bucharest, for six days, in debates on topical music issues within a unique event, organized by the Enescu Festival 2017: International Composers’ Forum, coordinated by the Romanian composer Dan Dediu.
Young musicians and composers from all over the world can obtain special attendance facilities.
The International Composers’ Forum aims to open new perspectives to the contemporary music universe in the Festival that bears the name of the most important Romanian composer – George Enescu.
Magnus Lindberg (Finland), Iain Bell (Great Britain), George Balint (Romania), Nimrod Borenstein (USA), Zygmunt Krauze (Poland), Adrian Pop (Romania), Dmitry Sitkovetsky (Russia/USA), Sir James MacMillan (Great Britain), Rodion Shchedrin (Russia), Tod Machover (USA), Jörg Widmann (Germany), Dan Buciu (Romania), Thierry Huillet (France), Viorel Munteanu (Romania), Octavian Nemescu (Romania), Vladimir Cosma (France), Elliot Goldenthal (USA), Thomas Larcher (Austria), Doina Rotaru (Romania), Cornel Țăranu (Romania), François Nicolas (France), Detlef Glanert (Germany), Adrian Iorgulescu (Romania), Rumon Gamba (Great Britain), Sven Helbig (Germany), Valentin Gheorghiu (Romania), Ari Ben-Shabetai (Israel), Mihaela Vosganian (Romania), Ulpiu Vlad (Romania) and Rolf Martinsson (Sweden) will discuss in a series of conferences and round tables the main directions in contemporary composition, reconnecting with the audience, as well as the relationship between film and composition in the 21st century.
Enescu Festival 2017 provides young musicians and composers from Romania and abroad, winners of international composition competitions, students and alumni of music universities with a series of facilities to be able to attend the International Composers’ Forum.
Thus, Romanian participants will have free access with prior registration, while foreign attendees can receive 20 bursaries for each of the three sessions of the Forum, offered in the order in which they apply. The bursary includes free accommodation for four days and free access to all events of the festival scheduled during those days. The age limit for the bursaries is 35 years old.
