ANNOUNCEMENT: Change of line-up at the concert on September 9 (Grand Palace Hall, 20:00, the Great Orchestras of the World category)

American soprano LAURA AIKIN shall perform the 7 Chansons de Clément Marot, by George Enescu, alongside the Staatskapelle Dresden orchestra at the concert on Monday, 9 September 2019, 20:00, at the Grand Palace Hall.

Soprano KRISTINE OPOLAIS has announced her unavailability for the September 9 concert, due to health-related reasons. The concert shall be held as scheduled, at the same time (20:00) at Grand Palace Hall (Sala Palatului).

LAURA AIKIN is an impressive lyrical artist, possessing a range of over three octaves and a diverse repertoire, from the Baroque to the contemporary, which makes her one of the most coveted appearances on the scenes of the great opera houses of the world. She is now a regular guest at the La Scala Milan, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Opernhaus Zurich, Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera New York and many other renowned musical venues.

She has performed with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Martin Brabbins, Sylvain Cambreling, William Christie, Christoph von Dohnányi, Iván Fischer, Mikko Franck, Daniele Gatti, Michael Gielen, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Manfred Honeck, Jakub Hrůša, René Jacobs, Fabio Luisi, Kent Nagano, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Michael Tilso, Thomas and Franz Welser-Möst, and many other demanding and inspired maestros.

About “George Enescu” International Festival

Having reached its 24th edition, George Enescu International Festival will take place between 31 August and 22 September 2019. In the Bucharest concert halls we will see over 2,500 of the most valuable musicians of the world, coming from 50 countries, and 84 concerts and recitals will be presented.
