The Cerchez Salon, within the Cotroceni Palace, also called the Great White Salon or the Grand Salon, was created at the initiative of Marie of Romania and was obtained by combining two smaller rooms: the Salon of Receptions (Garnier Opera Style) and the Great Dining Room (French Revival Style), the one where on 14-27 August it was signed the Romanian entry in the First World War. The works were entrusted to the architect Grigore Cerchez, later with the help of the architects Karel Limann and Ion Ernest. At the time of its inauguration, the salon was considered a stylistic success, its architecture referring to the stylistic traditions of Wallachia and Moldavia of the 17th century.
Nowadays, in the Cerchez Salon are organized diverse events, such as classical music concerts, cultural reunions and anniversaries, book presentations and launches.
