Soprano Diana Țugui began her musical training at the age of 5 with violin lessons and afterwards flute, but the love for the most beautiful instrument, the voice, was the one that won in the end.
She finished the George Enescu High School of Music in Bucharest in the singing class of Mrs. Cornelia Șerban, followed by studies at the George Enescu University of Music in the class of Mrs. Sanda Șandru. In 2003 she became a soloist at the Romanian Opera in Craiova, where she remained employed for 11 years.
During this time, she won various national and international awards, the Grand Prize at the Ionel Perlea International Competition, the First Prize at the Vox Artis International Singing Competition, the IV Prize at the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Singing Competition, or the Third Prize at the Jaume Aragall International Singing Competition.
2015 is the year in which she was awarded the “Best Soloist of the Year” prize at the Opera Gala, Iași. In the same year she became the soloist of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj Napoca, where she remained in this position until present times.
From 2018 she started a fruitful collaboration as a guest soloist at the Stadttheater in Regensburg and Badisches Stadttheater in Karlsruhe. Additionally, in 2018 she was awarded the Lya Hubic Prize at the Cluj Napoca Opera Gala.
Diana Țugui moves effortlessly from opera, operetta to symphonic or chamber music. The soprano’s repertoire includes many opera roles, among which we mention the most important: La Traviata – Violeta Valery, Rigoletto – Gilda, Falstaff – Nanetta, Carmen – Michaela, Turandot – Liu, La Boheme – Mimi and Musetta, Don Pasquale – Norina, The Elixir of Love – Adina, Lucia di Lammermoor – Lucia, The Puritans – Elvira, Faust – Marguerite, The Marriage of Figaro – Contessa, Don Giovanni – Donna Anna, etc. Her symphonic vocal repertoire can be considered a rich one as it includes a wide range of works, from J.B.Pergolesi and W.A. Mozart to Paul Costantinescu and Karl Jenkins.
The love for giving and carrying on the art of singing determined the soprano Diana Țugui to approach a new direction in her musical career. In 2020, after obtaining the title of Doctor of Music at the prestigious Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca, she was employed as a Doctoral Lecturer at the Department of Singing of the same university, pursuing in parallel the careers of artist and teacher with the same joy and dedication.
