“Archaeus” Ensemble

Founded in 1985 with the purpose of promoting the most various tendencies and trends from contemporary music, having as members Anca Vartolomei (cello), Rodica Dănceanu (keyboards), Dorin Gliga (oboe), Ion Nedelciu (clarinet), Şerban Novac (bassoon), Alexandru Matei (percution), Marius Lăcraru (violin), Liviu Dănceanu (musical directing), the ensemble operates on the label of Composers’ Union of Romania. They held over 300 concerts where they performed over 550 works (many of them in first audition), by 300 romanian and foreign composers, in 80 cities, in over 100 concert halls from România, the entire Europe and USA. They’ve been part of multiple festivals and international musical events in Bucharest, Paris, Vienna, Hanover, Copenhagen, Moscow, Lisbon, Sofia, Chisinau, Bratislava, Rome, Torino, New York, Cleveland, Washington etc. At the same time, the ensamble recorded thousands of minutes of music for Romanian National Radio Society and foreign radio stations, as discs, video and audio tapes. They played the soundtracks of over 20 films of animation, documentaries, experimental movies etc. Their extremely varied repertoire covers different styles and musical eras, including byzantine music and contemporary music. For his activity, the ensemble had received the ATM Award in 1987, Critics Award in 1991, „Music Today” Publication’s Award in 1996, „Scores” Award in 1997.
