Born in Chisinau, R. Moldova, Constantin Borodin started to play cello at the age of 6 under the guidance of V. Komissarova and B. Savici in his hometown. After highschool graduation, Constantin moved to Bucharest and started his studies with professor Marin Cazacu. Borodin actively participated in masterclasses held by reknowned teachers and musicians such as: Gautier Capucon, Valentin Radutiu, Catalin Ilea, Reinhardt Latzko, Stefan Popov, Miklos Perenyi, etc. In October 2019 he was selected as an active participant at the The Cello Akademie Rutesheim, to work with prof. Sebastian Klinger. He also attended chamber music masterclasses: “Sonoro”, “ISA” and “ECMA”.
Together with the pianist Daria Tudor, he performed recitals in Bucharest, Rutesheim, Strasbourg and Berlin; they were invited to play at rbbKultur radio in Berlin and also won the first prize and the special prize of French Embassy in Bucharest at the “Mihail Jora” Competition, held in Bucharest. Constantin Borodin is a winner of several national (Mihail Jora, Alexandru Morosanu, Paul Constantinescu,etc. – 2013-2018) and international competitions : 2nd prize – “M ist fur Mozart” chamber music competition in Cluj, 2016 and 3rd prize at “Domenico Gabrielli Competition” in Berlin, 2021. He played solo concerts with Alt-Hastedter Kammerorchester Bremen, Romanian Chamber Radio Orchestra, Moldovan National Youth Orchestra, Dinu Lipatti Philarmonic, Ion Dumitrescu Philarmonic. He also performed solo concerts in the great hall of Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest, in Riga, and in his hometown Chisinau.
Constantin is a member of National Romanian Orchestra both as a tutti player and as a principal cello section leader. He also collaborated with Brandenburgisches Orchester Eberswalde, Geringas Chamber Orchestra and Potsdam Kammerakademie. He received a 3 years scholarship from Royal Foundation “Princess Margret of Romania”. Between 2016-2017, he studied with Judith Ermert in Royal Conservatoire of Ghent, Belgium (with an Erasmus scholarship). Between 2018-2019, he studied with K. Heidrich at UdK Berlin (with an Erasmus scholarship). He is scholar at Paul Hindemith Gesellshaft in Berlin and at Deutschlandstipendium. Starting November 2020, Constantin Borodin is a student of Konstantin Heidrich at Universitat der Kunste Berlin.
