FINAL OF THE CELLO SECTION, LIVE AT THE ROMANIAN Athenaeum AND ONLINE ON FESTIVALENESCU.RO

On Saturday, May 15, from 6:00 PM (EEST), the Cello final of the George Enescu International Competition 2020/2021 will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum. Ștefan Cazacu (Romania), Sebastian Fritsch (Germany) and Jaemin Han (South Korea) are the three young cellists qualified for the Final.

The finalists will perform together with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Nicolas Altstaedt. Competitors enter in alphabetical order.

The Cello Final Program:

  • Ștefan Cazacu (Romania): Dvořák Cello Concerto in B minor Op. 104
  • Sebastian Fritsch (Germany): Elgar Cello Concerto in E minor Op. 85
  • Jaemin Han (South Korea): Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 in E flat Major Op. 107

The results will be announced around 21.00 Romanian time on the stage of Romanian Athenaeum. Cello Section Jury includes David Geringas (President of the Jury), Myung-Wha Chung, Leonid Gorokhov, Alexandra Gutu, Frans Helmerson, Arto Noras, Jérôme Pernoo, Meehae Ryo, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, and Raphael Wallfisch.

Concerts can be attended in person, at the Athenaeum Hall, for which tickets cost 65 RON and can be purchased here. You can also buy tickets for access inside the hall before the concert, directly at the Athenaeum, from the Eventim team. The organizers have also made tickets and subscriptions available for the online viewing of concerts and special recitals. The individual ticket costs 30 RON and can be purchased here.
