Ms. Sharvit has sung under the baton of many eminent conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Plácido Domingo, Pietro Rizzo, Andrea Battistoni, George Petrou, Jörg Halubek, Lawrence Cummings, and Wolfgang Katschner. She has appeared in opera and concert performances across Europe, including at Opéra de Lyon, Komische Oper Berlin, and Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and has sung at the Salzburg Festival, Konzerthaus Berlin, Lucerne Festival, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Ravinia Festival, Bregenz Festival, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Musikverein Vienna, Gasteig Munich, Müpa Budapest, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Palau de les Arts Valencia, and Dias de la Musica in Lisbon. Presenting an exceptional bandwidth of operatic repertoire, Hagar has sung Händel’s Nerone in Agrippina, Dejanaira in Hercules, Irene in Theodora, Amastre in Xerxes, Emira in Hasse’s Siroe, Ottavia in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, and the sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She also sang the roles of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni by Mozart; the title role of Pinocchio by Jonathan Dove, Hermia in Britten’s Midsummer night’s dream, Valencienne in Lehar’s Die Lustige Witwe, Smethon in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena and more.
Hagar Sharvit has been a member of the opera studio of Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf and successfully attended the Centro de Perfeccionamiento Plácido Domingo at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia. She made her European debut in Menotti’s Amelia al Ballo under the baton of Plácido Domingo in a production by Jean-Louis Grinda, followed by Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, directed by Ruggero Raimondi. In 2012 she appeared as handmaiden in Cherubini’s Medea conducted by Zubin Mehta in the same house. From 2014 to 2019, Hagar was an ensemble member of the Oldenburg State Theatre. Hagar won prizes at numerous important competitions, including First Prize and Audience Prize at the highly regarded “Das Lied” international song competition and First Prize at International Johannes Brahms Competition. She also received awards at the Mèdoc International Competition 2018, CESTI International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera and Händel Singing Competition in London. Hagar won the Erna Schlütter Public Award in 2015 and the Trude Eipperle-Rieger Award in 2016. She is a laureate of the Juventus Chamber Music Festival 2013 and a winner of the IVAI Buchholz Prize 2018.
Born in Tel Aviv, Ms. Sharvit studied singing at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music and went on to receive further training with Matthias Goerne and Thomas Hampson. She was invited to join the STEANS Institute Program of the Ravinia Festival in Chicago and was a member of the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival.
