Han-Wen Jennifer Yu, a native of Taichung, Taiwan. She earned a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Tunghai University (Taiwan), where she graduated with the highest honors with Dr. Juanelva Rose and Dr. Thomas Linde; a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano with Dr. Cameron Stowe, Dr. Pei-Shan Lee and Prof. Jonathan Feldman from New England Conservatory; and a Konzertexamen at the HMT Leipzig with professor Gudrun Franke in piano chamber music, and minor in solo piano with professor Gerald Fauth.
As an active pianist, she has performed throughout the U.S., Taiwan, Macau, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, England, France Switzerland and Sweden. She has performed in renowned venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Gasteig München, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Wigmore Hall, Athenaeum Bucharest, Flagey Brussels and National Recital Hall Taiwan. She has been heard on National Public Radio’s Performance Today, America’s Music Festivals, Chicago Radio, Deutschlandfunk, RTBF.be Radio, and Medici.tv. As a soloist, she has performed with Trierer Philharmoniker.
Han-Wen hold fellowships from YAMAHA foundation of Taiwan (2006), and scholarships at the Aspen Music Festival (2010-11). She was a Marc and Eva Stern Fellow in SongFest (2010), and was awarded Collaborative Piano Fellowship from Music Academy of the West in the U.S (2013). She’s accepted to the organization “Jeunes Talents” in Paris, France. She is a national and international competition prizewinning pianist. In 2014 she won 1 prize in the Clara Schumann Duo Competition in Leipzig with violist Seungwon Lee and soprano Chueh-Yu Lai. In 2016, she won 1st prize with cellist Mon-Puo Lee in the 19th Kiejstut Bacewicz International Chamber Music Competition in Poland, the same year in September, she was awarded the Best Accompanist Prize from the George Enescu Festival Competition in Bucharest, Romania.
Ms. Yu had served as staff pianist at the New England Conservatory, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the Foulger International Music Festival (2012), the Prague Summer Nights Festival (2015), International Music Festival Music Islands and Young Concert Artist European Audition (2017), Internationale Schlossfestspiele in Hohenpriessnitz und Machern (2018) , and also the Euro Music Festival and Academy (2015-2020). Since 2019, she’s appointed as staff pianist for the International Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists in Weimar, Germany.
From 2010-2013, she worked as a studio pianist for Grammy Award winner Kim Kashkashian’s studio at NEC. She had also worked in almost every studios at NEC from 2009-2013. Since 2013, she has been working with students from UDK Berlin, HFM Hanns Eisler Berlin, Kronberg Academy and so on in Germany. She has worked on Elgar’s Cello Concerto with cellist Kian Soltani for maestro Daniel Baremboim in 2017. Her past and current colleagues including international competition prize winners, Berlin Philharmonic members and professional soloists. She has been a collaborative pianist at the Blackmore International Music Academy, the Noel Music Management, and the Hohaiyan Arts. Since 2019, she’s the director of Ensemble Taiwan and the international musical project management – Project Zero. She’s now living in Berlin as a freelance pianist.
