“A top Pianist ” (Südwest Presse), displaying a “fluid and flexible playing which suits the French music, Liszt’s virtuosity or large Schubertian constructions ” (Piano Magazine), Henri Bonamy is an artist at the crossroads of various European traditions.
Disciple of Jacques Rouvier, Brigitte Engerer at the Paris Conservatory, of Dmitri Bashkirov at the Escuela Reina Sofia in Madrid as a fellow of the Isaac Albeniz Foundation, he then studied with Elisso Virsaladze at the Musikhochschule in Munich. He won prizes the International Competition Geneva, “Erwin Nyiregyhazi” (Japan), “Alessandro Casagrande” (Italy)…
The “Classica magazine” devoted him a Discovery CD and an interview entitled “The European Elegance”. He was part of the Program CulturesFrance and Radio France and was a fellow of the DAAD. He received the 2007 Culture Award EON – Bavaria.
It appears at the National Auditorium in Madrid, at the Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Salle Molière in Lyon, at the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris under the direction, among others, of Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Andrey Boreyko – “Thunderous applause … a memorable event …” for the first Brahms Concerto with the Hamburger Symphoniker (Ostsee Zeitung).
He was invited in major international festivals – Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, Menuhin Festival Gstaad Festival , Chopin Festival in Paris, Piano in Riom … – and his recordings are regularly broadcast on France Musiques, Bayern 4 Klassik.
Among his chamber music partners are Julia Fischer, the Rodin Quartet, Wen-Sinn Yang, Daniel Müller-Schott.
On the occasion of the Chopin Year in 2010 Henri Bonamy took part to the complete recording of the composer’s works for France Television at the Salle Pleyel.
Henri Bonamy studied conducting with Bruno Weil and graduated from the Musikhochschule in Munich. He also received advice from Yakov Kreizberg and Marc Tardue.
He conducted the Münchner Symphoniker, the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Kammerorchester Georgischer Ingolstatt, the Radio Orchestra in Munich, the Brasov Opera.

He is chief conductor of the München Jugendorchester (Munich Youth Orchestra) and artistic director of the INDEX Ensemble.
He was in 2015 a guest piano professor at the Sungshin University in Seoul, Korea.
