UKRAINE
Ivan was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine on November 26, 1994. He attended music school in Chernivtsi studying under Professor Elvira Ryzhonok. Later, he continued his studies in Lvov, at Solomiya Krushelnytska Music School under the supervision of Professor Ludmila Zakopets. In 2018 he graduated with honors the Academy of Music Feliks Nowowiejski in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in the class of Professor Jaroslaw Drzewiecki.
Ivan perfected his skills by taking part in master piano courses conducted by eminent pedagogues such as Vera Nosina, Mikhail Voskresensky, Andrzej Jasiński, Sergei Edelmann, Boris Bloch, Igor Tchetuev, Eugen Indjic, Philippe Giusiano, Dina Joffe, Kevin Kenner, Akiko Ebi and Lidia Grychtołówna.
Ivan is a laureate of the following competitions: the Pianistic Forum Bieszczady without borders in Sanok, Poland (2014), 1st Prize at the International Competition Musica Classica in Moscow, Russia (2015), Grand Prix at the Competition for foreigner students in Antonin, Poland (2017), 2nd Prize at the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music in Rzeszów, Poland (2021).
In 2020, the label DUX released his debut recording titled Rachmaninoff: Piano Transcriptions.
He has performed as a soloist at the Warsaw National Philharmonic, Artur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszow, Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, National Philharmonic in Lviv, National Romanian Opera in Iași, with such conductors as Volodymyr Sirenko, Yury Bervetski, Massimiliano Caldi, Jerzy Salwarowski, Bohdan Boguszewski, Alessandro Cedrone, Ciprian Teodorașcu, Kai Bumann, Kristof Falise.
Ivan Shemchuk was born and raised in Ukraine, but from 2018 he lives in Romania, so he will represent two countries: Ukraine and Romania.
