Jérôme Pernoo is a laureate of several international prizes: Rostropovich Competition, Tchaikovsky Competition in 1994 and Pretoria Competition in 1996.
Jérôme Pernoo has performed with most major European orchestras. He plays chamber music in festivals and in recitals with pianist Jérôme Ducros, on some of the most prestigious musical scenes such as the Wigmore Hall in London, Théâtre du Châtelet, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées or Cité de la musique in Paris.
In 2006 he did the world premiere recording of Offenbach Grand Concerto with Les Musiciens du Louvre and Marc Minkowski (Deutsche Grammophon). In September 2008, he premiered the cello concerto that Guillaume Connesson dedicated to him under the direction of Jérémie Rhorer. He recorded this concerto for Deutsche Grammophon with Jean-Christophe Spinosi and the Monaco Philharmonic, and the complete chamber music by Connesson for Sony Classical.
In 2013, he was invited to the Carnegie Hall of New York City and the following year to the Philharmonie Berlin.
After seven years of teaching at the Royal College of Music in London, Jérôme Pernoo was appointed professor of cello at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris in 2005.
He is also the creator and artistic director of the festival Les Vacances de Monsieur Haydn, located at La Roche-Posay (France), of which the first edition took place in September 2005. Since 2015, he created the Centre de musique de chambre de Paris, a chamber music concert series at the Salle Cortot in Paris.
Jérôme Pernoo plays Italian anonymous 18th century baroque cello and piccolo cello, school of Milan, as well as a modern cello made for him by Frank Ravatin.
