Jiaqi Liu

Jiaqi Liu was born on April 4, 2000. He graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he studied with Prof. Na Mula. He is now studying at the National University of Singapore, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, with Prof. Li-Wei Qin. Jiaqi won 1st prize of the 2020 Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, 1st prize at the 5th Danubia Talents International Online Music Competition Hungary, and 1st prize in the 3rd Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition, 2021.

He performed with the Shanghai Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra under conductor Muhai Tang. He also performed with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester under conductor Olivier Pols at the Cello Akademie Rutesheim 2019. In 2021, he was invited by conductor Fu Renchang to play a Saint-Saëns Concerto for the 100th celebration of Saint-Saëns death. Jiaqi performed in the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, NEC Jordan Hall, WDR Köln, Kioi Hall in Tokyo, Beijing Concert Hall, Sennheiser Shanghai Concert Hall, as a soloist and chamber musician. He had solo recital tours across China, in cities such as Beijing and Shenzhen. He attended the masterclasses of Lynn Harrell, Laurence Lesser, Claudio Bohórquez, László Fenyö, Natalie Clein, Martti Rousi, Andres Diaz, Paul Katz, David Geber, and Jian Wang.
