Miki Ueda

JAPAN

Born in Japan, Miki Ueda has started playing the piano at the age of 5. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Tokyo University of the Arts, where she studied with Prof. Kei Itoh. She was awarded the Tokyo University of the Arts Piano Award, the Doseikai Prize and the Acanthus Music Prize on her graduation. Since April 2022, she started studying with Gilead Mishory at the Freiburg University of Music.

Miki won the 1st prize at the International Imola Piano Competition 2014, and 2nd prize at the Piano Teachers National Association of Japan Competition in 2018. She played Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. She performed in several Italian cities (Rovereto, Pistoia and Florence) and was also invited to perform at the Festival Galuppi at the Teatro la Fenice in 2016. In 2019, she played in front of the Japanese Empress at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. For her studies she was supported by scholarships from the Yamaha Music Foundation, and the Yamada Sadao Music Foundation.
