Nona Ciobanu

Romanian theater director NONA CIOBANU’s credits include productions based on contemporary and classical texts, that involve physical and visual theatre, as well as site specific projects, installations and multimedia directing for opera. Her work, which granted her many awards, took place at prestigious theatres around the world, as well as at site specific and galleries in Europe, the US and Mexico. Ciobanu taught at the National University for Theatre and Film, Bucharest, Acting Department and led workshops for theatre companies from around the world. Since 1995, she has been part of Mic Theatre Bucharest as a director and since 1996 she is the founder and Artistic Director of Toaca Cultural Foundation. Between 2003-2006 she was part of the Executive Committee of Trans Europe Halles, a network of 127 cultural centres from Europe.

Cavani, The Love of Three Oranges by Carlo Gozzi, Dog’s Waltz by L. Andreev, As You Like It and The Tempest by W. Shakespeare, I Like Beethoven after W.Shawn, The Star Cape by M.Pavic, The Canterbury Tales adaptation after Geoffrey  Chaucer, The Playboy of the Western World by J.M. Synge,  Well, Mother…by M.Visniec, Dorde based on a Romanian myth, Hopscotch based on a Persian myth and Rumi’s writings, Orpheus or How to Undress Your Feathers (own scenario with texts by G. Naum).
