Seven musicians qualified to the Semifinal of the Cello Section at the Enescu Competition 2018

Two musicians from France and one from Norway, Bulgaria, Japan, China and Estonia each qualified to the Semifinal of the Cello Section at the “George Enescu” International Competition 2018. The results were announced on Friday evening by the specialized jury.

The Second Round of the “George Enescu” International Competition 2018, Cello Section, took place on September 6 and 7, at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. The specialized jury decided on Friday, September 7, the contestants qualified for the Semifinal of the Competition: Stanislas Kim (France), Sandra Lied Haga (Norway), Atanas Krastev (Bulgaria), Florian Pons (France), Shizuka Mitsui (Japan), Yibai Chen (China), Marcel Johannes Kits (Estonia).

The Jury of the Cello Section at the 2018 edition of the Enescu Competition consists of David Geringas, (President of the Jury), Raphael Wallfisch, Leonid Gorokhov, Alexandra Guțu, Jian Wang, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Myung-Wha Chung, Philippe Muller și Marin Cazacu.

The Semifinal of the Enescu Competition takes place on September 9, starting 9:00, at the Romanian Athenaeum. Three competitors will perform in front of the audience in the morning from 9:00 till 11:45 and four competitors in the afternoon from 17:00 till 20:35

The Final of the Competition, Cello Section, consisting of three concerts with orchestra, with the extraordinary participation of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor Paul Watkins, will take place on September 11, at 18:00, in the Grand Hall of the Romanian Athenaeum. Between September 1 and 23, 270 young artists from 39 countries from all over the world are coming to Bucharest to give life to their dream of becoming great artists of the world, at the 2018 edition of the George Enescu International Competition.
