Ștefan Cazacu

Born January 23, 1994, Ştefan Cazacu started to study cello at six, with his father. At nine he won his first prizes at national competitions and since then we constantly won 1st prize at the most prestigious national competitions in Romania.

He studied in Bucharest and Vienna with Razvan Suma, Marin Cazacu and Reinhard Latzko. He participated in master classes with prof. Reinhard Latzko, Wolfgang Boettcher, Frans Helmerson, Marin Cazacu.

Since 2005 he competed alongside with the violinists, pianists, low strings players, wind instruments players who are 1st prize winners of national and international competitions, too. In this challenging competitions he won the following prizes: 2006 – 1st Prize and „The Golden Lyre” at the National Olympics of Romania, Music section, city of Suceava; 2007 – 1st Prize and Grand Prix at the International „George Georgescu” competition in Tulcea; 2008 – 1st Prize at the International competition in Liezen, Austria; 2008 – 2nd Prize at the International Competition „Antonio Janigro” in Porec – Croazia; 2010 – Winner of Eurovision Young Musicien Romania; 2011 –  Winner of Romanian Radio Broadcasting Competition; 2012 – 1st Prize at the Lions Competition Romania; 2015 –  1st   Prize and Grand Prix at the National Competition Paul Constantinescu in Ploiesti, Romania; 2016 – 1st Prize at the National Competition „Mihail Jora” in Bucharest.

He played in many recitals and concerts in Romania, Spain, Italy, Germany, Israel, Moldova, Portugal, Bulgaria.  He appeared in several broadcasted concerts, on radio and on TV.

He has performed as a soloist with all twenty symphony orchestras from Romania including: G. Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest, National Radio Orchestra,  Romanian Youth Orchestra, The Philharmonic Transylvania Cluj, Valencia Symphony Orchestra, Alicante Youth Orchestra, Kishinev Philarmonic Orchestra – Moldova.

Everywhere the public and the critics praised the talent and the maturity of this very young cellist, displayed in all his appearances.
