Ștefan Macovei

ROMANIA

Born on April 10, 1999, in Nicosia, Cyprus, Ștefan Macovei is currently in the first year of his master studies at the National Academy of Music Gheorghe Dima in Cluj-Napoca, under the guidance of Prof. Cipriana Gavrișiu, and is also a student of Vincenzo Balzani at the Accademia del Ridotto in Stradella. Stefan won the Grand Prize at the Irina Șațchi Competition in Râmnicu Vâlcea, 1st prize at the International Piano Competition in Milan 2017, the Grand Prize at the Tadini International Piano Competition 2018 in Lovere, 3rd prize and the Giovanni Turcotti Prize for the best performance of a Beethoven sonata at the Valsesia Musica International Music Competition in Varallo 2020, and the 1st prize at the César Franck International Piano Competition 2020 in Kraainem.

He had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses with teachers such as Vincenzo Balzani, Leonel Morales, Philippe Raskin, Diana Ketler Anna Fedorova, Benjamin Engeli, Dana Borșan, Viniciu Moroianu, Anton Kernjak, Yuri Bogdanov, and Emanuel Rimoldi. Since 2016 he has been a member of the Associazione PianoFriends in Milan and thus had the opportunity to give recitals and concerts in Italy and abroad in countries such as France, Spain, Malta, Romania, and Russia.
