Stefan Tarara

Stefan Tarara was born into a musical family in Heidelberg, Germany and made his stage debut at the age of four. He is the prize-winner of the renowned George Enescu International Violin Competition in Bucharest.

Furthermore he won many awards at national and international competitions, among others, the Violin Competition Henryk Wieniawski/Poznan, Premio Niccolo Paganini and the Rodolfo Lipizer Competition in which he has won first prize and special prizes for the best romantic concert and also for his virtuosity. His appearances at music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Salzburger Festspiele, the Verbier Festival, Prague Spring and Bach Festival Leipzig have received enthusiastic praise from audiences and critics.

After earning his baccalaureate in Heidelberg in 2006, Tarara completed his Diploma (2010), an MA in Specialized Music Performance (2012) and an MA in Pedagogy (2015) in the class of Prof. Zakhar Bron at the University of Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He is currently doing the Postgraduate studies in Mozarteum Salzburg in the class of Prof. Reinhard Goebel for Performance Practice in Early Music. Due to his successes at international music competitions Tarara was named Musician of the Year in 2008 and 2010 by the German music journal “Neue Musikzeitung”.

As of 2012 Stefan Tarara serves as concert master and solo violinist of the Hulencourt Symphony Orchestra. He regularly coaches master classes in Germany, Poland and Switzerland. Since 2014 Tarara has been teaching as an assistant in Prof. Zakhar Bron’s master classes in Interlaken, Switzerland. Since early 2017 he has been teaching his own class at the Conservatory Bern.

Tarara plays a violin by Antonio Stradivari (Cremona 1721). It was formerly owned by Fritz Kreisler.
