The George Enescu International Festival gets shortlisted for The International Opera Awards

The 2021 edition of The George Enescu International Festival has just been shortlisted for The International Opera Awards, alongside other top events in the world of international classical music such as the Donizetti Festival or Garsington Opera. The awards ceremony is due on November 28, at the Teatro Real (Madrid, Spain).

George Enescu International Festival is nominated for The International Opera Awards 2022 in the FESTIVAL category, alongside Donizetti Festival (Bergamo), Garsington Opera, Leipzig Opera Wagner 22, Santa Fe Opera and Savonlinna Festival, for including innovative opera performances in its programme.

At the 2021 edition, led by conductor Vladimir Jurowski – as Artistic Director, and Mihai Constantinescu – Executive Director, all opera works in concert in the Enescu Festival’s programme were performed for the first time in Romania, with multimedia projections, interpreted by some of
the most renowned international artists and orchestras in the world. The multimedia projections were designed by famous Romanian directors such as Carmen Lidia Vidu or Nona Ciobanu.

Te Deum opera, composed by tenor, composer and conductor José Cura, had its world premiere in
Romania and marked the 25th anniversary of Enescu Festival history.

The 2022 International Opera Awards is due on November 28, at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
