The Online Round of the Violin Section of the Enescu Competition 2022 begins with the recitals of 21 violinists from 13 countries on www.festivalenescu.ro

The Online Round of the George Enescu International Competition continues with the violin section, with 21 recitals given by young musicians from all over the world. Classical music admirers have access to all the online content of the Competition for free on www.festivalenescu.ro/en.

The jury proceedings for the first stage of the Competition will take place online by analyzing the contestants’ videos. The specialized juries consists of internationally renowned musicians. The Violin Section jury of this edition is formed of Dmitry Sitkovetsky (Chairman of the Jury), Remus Azoiței, Frank Huang, Paul Kantor, Simon James, Silvia Marcovici, Igor Petrushevski, David Grimal, and Krzysztof Wegrzyn.

The results of the online stage of the violin section will be announced on the Competition’s website until May 31, 2022. Only 12 contestants will be able to qualify for the Semifinals of the 18th edition of the Enescu Competition, which will take place in September 2022, at the Romanian Athenaeum.

The program of the 21 recitals includes the first part of Impressions d’enfance Suite Op. 28 – “Ménétrier”, a work whose premiere took place on February 22, 1942, in Bucharest, performed by pianist Dinu Lipatti and the composer himself, George Enescu, on violin. Also, the works approached by the competitors are part of the international competition violin repertoire, covering a stylistic palette that highlights both the virtuosity and the interpretive sensitivity of the participants. These works belong to famous composers such as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Paganini.
