Great Orchestras of the World and Famous Soloists on the Enescu Festival Stage
Top orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields; the National Orchestra of France, conducted by its new musical director Cristian Macelaru; the Munich Philharmonic with Valery Gergiev conducting; the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, with a special program and a conductor on his first visit to Romania, Andrés Orozco-Estrada; Les Dissonances, with David Grimal as conductor and soloist; the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with two conductors, Daniel Harding and Alan Gilbert, as well as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of artistic director Lahav Shani, will come to Bucharest this year to take part in the 25th edition of the George Enescu Festival, tickets for which go on sale today.
Also participating will be renowned soloists such as violinists Maxim Vengerov, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Joshua Bell; American cellist Alisa Weilerstein, coming for the first time to Romania; brothers Renaud Capuçon (violin) and Gautier Capuçon (cello), violinists Leonidas Kavakos, Dmitry Sitkovetsky; countertenor Philippe Jaroussky; mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and soprano Sonya Yoncheva. The Jubilee Edition of the Festival will also feature prestigious pianists, who have performed at the Festival before: Denis Matsuev, Jean Yves Thibaudet, Yuja Wang, Khatia Buniatishvili, Maria João Pires, Kirill Gerstein.
Lovers of classical music are invited to buy tickets for the anniversary edition of the George Enescu International Festival starting today, July 19, at 12:00 PM EEST, with the note that access to the concerts will be subject to health measures, depending on the concert venue and the number of seats available under pandemic conditions. Sales will be made through the Eventim network, on the www.eventim.ro platform and at a sales point that will be specially set up at the Romanian Athenaeum.
Information on the purchase procedure and conditions of access is available on the Festival website, under the Tickets section. It is still possible that, due to the pandemic, changes are made to the program. Access to the concert halls will be granted providing the sanitary conditions are being met and face masks will be mandatory indoors at all times.
The 2021 George Enescu International Festival is scheduled to take place between August 28 and September 26, 2021, with an exceptional musical program, sustained by over 3,500 international and Romanian artists for a record duration of 4 weeks, with measures in place to reduce potential health risks for audiences, artists, organizers, and journalists.
