Two musicians from South Korea and Japan and one from Greece, Russia, Chile, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Serbia, Latvia and Ukraine each qualified to the Second Round of the Piano Section at the “George Enescu” International Competition 2016, after the results were announced on Sunday.
The First Round of the “George Enescu” International Competition 2016, Piano Section, took place on September 16, 17 and 18, at the National University of Music Bucharest. The specialized jury decided on Sunday, September 18, the contestants qualifying to the second round of the Competition: Kyuho Han (South Korea), Triantafyllos Liotis (Greece), Konstantin Emelianov (Russia), Danor Quinteros (Chile), Mihoko Oshima (Japan), Victoria Vassilenko (Bulgaria), Morta Grigaliūnaitė (Lithuania), Ljubica Stojanovic (Serbia), Takuma Ishii (Japan), Liepiņš Daumants (Latvia), Valentin Valentiyev (Ukraine) and Albertina Eunju Song (South Korea).
The Jury of the Piano Section at the 2016 edition of the Enescu Competition consists of Gabriel Tacchino (president of the jury), Rolf-Dieter Arens, Dana Borșan, Philippe Dinkel, Peter Donohoe, Wolfganz Manz, Viniciu Moroianu, Andrei Pisarev and Alan Weiss.
The Second Round takes place on September 20 and 21, starting 16.00, at the Romanian Athenaeum. The semifinal of the Enescu Competition is organized on September 23, at 16.00, at the Romanian Athenaeum. The Final of the Competition at the Piano Section, consisting of three concerts with orchestra, with the extraordinary participation of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, will take place on September 25, at 19.00, in the Great Hall of the Romanian Athenaeum.
Tickets to the Piano Final of the Enescu Competition 2016 are sold out. The audience who could not purchase tickets to the concert hall can watch the final in a live broadcast on a large screen placed in front of the Athenaeum, on www.festivalenescu.ro and on Medici.tv.
Between September 3 and 25, 196 young artists from all over the world are coming to Bucharest to give life to their dream of becoming great artists of the world, at the 2016 edition of the George Enescu International Competition. The prizes have a total value of EUR 115,000, with the added possibility of performing on the stage of the Enescu Festival, as well as special prizes and international promotion opportunities.
Organized with a new concept, the 2016 edition of the Enescu Competition will bring to the same stage established artists as well – members of the jury, winners of previous years who have made an international career, and winners of the competition of 2014, who will give extraordinary recitals at this edition. Enescu Competition 2016 also involves the audience thanks to a new app, which allows users to register their own lifelong dream on the website of the Competition and Festival. The recitals and concerts with orchestra at the Enescu Competition 2016 are broadcast live in Romania, on www.festivalenescu.ro, and on a screen in front of the Romanian Athenaeum, as well as all over the world, by the online classical music channel Medici TV.
“I dream ceaselessly. I want to play music for as long as I am alive.” – these are the words of George Enescu, brought back to life at the 2016 edition of the Enescu Competition, in a challenge launched to young artists and to the audience alike: “Give life to your dream!”. We are the sum of our dreams, as individuals and as a society. Enescu Competition 2016 invites us to acknowledge and celebrate the dreams that take us further, from the perspective of the selected young artists competing at this edition, as well as from that of the audience coming to support them at the Romanian Athenaeum.
