VADIM VOLKOV

Born in Kransnodar (Russia), he graduated fram the Krasnodar Rimsky-Korsakov Music College (class of Anna Gubareva). In 2014 he entered the Russian Institute of Theatre
Arts in Moscow (Musical Theatre Department, Dmitry Bertman’s workshop, voice teacher Professor Emma Sarkisyan).
In 2014 he made his opera debut as Oreste in the operetta La belle Hélene by Offenbach at the Helikon Opera in Moscow. In 2014-16 he sang in a few more Helikon Opera
productions: Nezhata (Sadko by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Gustav IV (Tsarina by D. Tukhmanov), the 1st Outlaw in the world premiere of the opera Doctor Haass by A.
Sergunin. He also performed Oreste in La belle Helene at the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International Performing Arts Center (concert performance), Angel in The Demon
by A. Rubinstein at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow (semi-concert performance), and Sasha Pylnikov in the world premiere of the opera The Petty Demon by A. Zhurbin at
the Pokrovsky Chamber Musical Theatre.
In 2016-18 Vadim was a member of the Bolshoi Theater’s Young Artists Opera Program. As an artist of the YAP, he performed with Yu.A. Bashmet in Antwerp (Belgium); in Berlin
at a Christmas concert at the Russian Embassy in Germany; in Austria (Linz) in a concert of artists of the young program at the Brucknerhaus In 2017 he gave a concert at the
Orfeo International Music Festival in Vipiteno / Sterzing (Italy). On the stage of the Bolshoi Theater performs the part of countertenor in the ballet “Nureyev”, composer Ilya Demutsky, director Kirill Serebrennikov.
Also participates in Barocco new production with the Gogol-Center (author Kirill Serebrennikov, 2018).
In 2020 he took part in the premiere performances of Sadko at the Bolshoi Theatre singing the role of Nezhata (conductor Timur Zangiev, director Dmitri Tcherniakov).

In 2021 he sang the role of Ruggiero in Handel’s opera Alchina in Italy, at the Olimpico Theater (conductor Andrea Marcon).
