“Virtuozii” from Bucharest

Virtuozii from Bucharest Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1988 at the initiative of conductor Horia Andreescu. It is composed of elite musicians from George Enescu Philharmonic, the Romanian Radio Orchestra and the University of Music in Bucharest.

After 1990, Virtuozii from Bucharest became the first private orchestra and one of the first of its kind in Eastern Europe.

From first appearances, concerts of Virtuozii from Bucharest were considered by the public and the media specialists, outstanding musical events.

Orchestra repertoire covers a wide stylistic range from the 16th century to today’s music, but the basis remains the classic repertoire, with emphasis on the creation of composer Joseph Haydn and of German ones in Transylvania, whose creation is restored to its current in many concerts and CD recordings of Virtuozii from Bucharest.

The artistic value of orchestra’s  performances  supported  it  in winning national awards  (1989 and 1993) , in  performing numerous TV recorded concerts, special recordings, touring inland  and abroad in countries as Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Bulgaria, invitations to national and international festivals and collaborations with opera ensembles in frame of  Festivals at Martina Franca, Fermo and Las Palmas.

Virtuozii recorded CDs for Romanian labels (Electrecord, Artexim) and abroad (Olympia, London and Q Disc, Netherlands).

Among the famous artists and ensembles with whom they collaborated include continuing work with Misha Maisky, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Angela Gheorghiu, Dan Grigore, Valentin Gheorghiu, Ruxandra Donose, Madrigal Romanian National Choir or Children’s Choir Wiener Sangerknaben.
