Yoanna Ruseva

BULGARIA

Yoanna Ruseva was born on September 15, 1998 in Sofia. She started studying the violin at the National Music School of Sofia Lubomir Pipkov in the class of Blagorodna Taneva. 

In 2006 she was awarded the Debut prize for the Musician of the Year in Sofia for her first solo debut with an orchestra (Dobrich Symphonic Orchestra). Yoanna won 2nd prize and the special prize of Zakhar Bron at the Young Virtuosos Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria and she was a laureate of the International Competition David Oistrakh in 2013. In 2017 she was awarded a special prize at the International Postacchini Competition in Fermo, Italy. In 2019 she won a special prize in the Anton Rubinstein Competition in Düsseldorf, and a special prize and the Audience prize in the Szymon Goldberg International Competition in Meißen. In 2020 she was awarded the Grand Prix at the international competition La Musique et la Terre in Paris. 

Yoanna appeared as a soloist of the Sofia Sinfonietta, the Burgas Philharmonic Orchestra with Jordan Dafov, Classic FM Radio Orchestra with Grigor Palikarov, with the  Symphony Orchestras of Vratsa, Vidin, Pernik, Pleven, Plovdiv, and had her debut at Musikverein Vienna in 2016.

Yoanna Ruseva participated in masterclasses with Gérard Poulet, Takashi Shimizu, Svetlin Roussev, Zakhar Bron, Michael Frischenschlager, and Anton Sorokow. In the years 2014-2015 she was a scholarship holder at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo, Belgium, where she was a student of Augustin Dumay and Tatiana Samouil. She continued her studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Pierre Amoyal between 2015 and 2016. Currently she studies at the University of Music in Vienna in the class of Elisabeth Kropfitsch, after studying for 3 years with Anton Sorokow.
