Violin

The outstanding young violinist Ziyu He was one of the youngest soloists to make his debut at the Musikverein with the Vienna Philharmonic under Adam Fischer in 2017, aged just 18. In 2016, Ziyu won both the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and the Yehudi Menuhin Competition, and was the Eurovision Young Musician of the Year in 2014.

The 18/19 season saw Ziyu perform with Singapore Symphony Orchestra, National Centre for the Performing Arts Orchestra, Wiener Kammerorchester, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra Teatro Petruzzelli, Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Orchestra and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. He also gave recitals at the Konzerthaus Wien as part of their ‘Great Talents’ series.

This season, Ziyu will be performing at BBC Proms in the Park, Belfast, and will be making his debut with Bucharest Symphony Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, among others. He is also a member of Altenberg Trio Wien, performing regularly around Europe.

Ziyu He began playing the violin in his native China at the age of five. Aged just 10, he was invited by Paul Roczek to study with him in Salzburg at the University Mozarteum where Ziyu continues his Masters studies with Benjamin Schmid and Paul Roczek.
