NEW: ticket draw for 2019 George Enescu Festival

One of the novelties of the 2019 edition is the introduction of a lottery-type system for purchasing festival passes to George Enescu Festival. To make sure everybody has equal chances and to diminish some of the pressure felt by the public, who was unable to monitor the online sale of the tickets, which were sold out in just a few minutes, this year we introduced a system used by other strong cultural institutions of the world. Thus, the chances to buy passes to the Festival will be equal for all interested parties.

The festival pass lottery entails a registration period for those who are interested (online or offline), which will last a month. After the registration period, a software will select the persons whose passes will be reserved. The passes must then be paid within two weeks. If they are not paid within these two weeks, the remaining passes will be put up for sale again.

Pass lottery calendar

The registration period for the lottery is 22 October 2018 – 25 November 2018.

The drawing will take place on 26 November 2018.

The payment period is scheduled for 27 November 2018 – 12 December 2018.

In accordance with the rules, passes that have not been purchased by that date will be put up for sale again.

  • The lottery-type system for purchasing festival passes facilitates registration for a longer period of time. It won’t be necessary to stay in front of the computer at a certain hour to purchase a pass.
  • A total of 1,500 festival passes for the four series of concerts go on sale. There are separate passes for each series of concerts.
  • The drawing will be organized officially and will be broadcasted live on our website, www.festivalenescu.ro, on November 26, 2018.
  • The lottery-type system is common for other cultural institutions that have a very high rate of demand for their concerts and shows. Vienna State Opera, Salzburg Festival, shows on Broadway use the lottery-type system.
  • Individual tickets for each concert, which can be purchased as such, go on sale on March 6, 2019.

The festival pass lottery

Starting with 22 October 2018, music lovers can enter the lottery. They can register by filling in a hard copy of an application form, at the Romanian Athenaeum or at any Eventim office, or they can do it online, on eventim.ro and festivalenescu.ro.

Applicants will fill in details such as their name, phone number, street address and e-mail address. Any person can register once only. Applicants will also be able to choose to receive the tickets by e-mail or post, or to collect them from Eventim offices.

Those who enter the ticket draw can choose their desired type of pass. This can be individual (for a single person) or family (for two persons). If several persons wish to use the pass, they must register separately, with different details.

In addition, those who register can choose the desired price category, by viewing the concert hall plan with the related categories. After the drawing, orders will be created automatically, and the system will distribute the best seats available in the selected category.

On 25 November 2019, the registration period ends. On 26 November 2018, the drawing will take place for each type of pass. A waiting list will be prepared for a second drawing.

After the drawing, winners will be contacted by e-mail/phone and they may purchase the passes by 12 December at the latest.

Those who fail to pay for their order within one week will lose the right to purchase passes, and such right will be transferred to the following person on the waiting list.

On 12 December 2018 the payment period ends, and the passes will be distributed by 1 February 2019.

HOW TO BUY
