ALBERTO MIGUELEZ ROUCO

He was born in La Coruña (Spain) in 1994, where he studied singing with tenor Pablo Carballido del Camino and Piano with Cristina López. In 2012 he began his singing studies at the Musik Akademie Basel, where he studies with the mezzosoprano Rosa Domínguez, finishing his Master in Performance in 2017. In 2019 he obtained his Master Degree in Singing Pedagogy at the Musik Akademie Basel. He also studied harpsichord and basso continuo with Francesco Corti, Giorgio Paronuzzi and Jesper Christensen.

In opera he has performed Händel’s Ottone (Adelberto) at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik (2019), La Discordia in Legrenzi’s La Divisione del Mondo (Strasbourg, Versailles, Nancy), Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (Umana fragilità and Pisandro), Dido and Eneas de Purcell (Dido y Sorceress), Mozart’s Magic Flute (Dritte Knabe) or Cesti’s L’Orontea (Corindo), working with stage directors such as Anna Magdalena Fitzi, Jetske Mijnnsen, Pablo Maritano, Els Comediants (Joan Font) or Deda Cristina Colonna.

As a soloist he has sung oratorios such as Händel’s MessiahOde for the birthday of Queen Anne, or Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (Disinganno), Bach’s Johannes-Passion (with René Jacobs) and Magnificat, Hasse’s Miserere, Zelenka’s Missa Votiva, Pasquini’s Il martirio di San Vito, Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine, Graun’s Passionkantate, Michael Haydn’s Requiem in c , Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus, Gloria and Magnificat, Mozart’s Trinitatismesse and Spatzenmesse, Charpentier’s Te Deum and Messe de Minuit, or Traetta’s Stabat Mater.

He regularly attends masterclasses given by renowned singers or teachers: Margreet Honig, Mariella Devia, Sara Mingardo, Valerie Guillorit, Sophie Daneman, Alessandro de Marchi, Christine Schäfer, Maria Cristina Kiehr, etc., and works with conductors like René Jacobs, Christophe Rousset, Paul Agnew, Gabriel Garrido, Josep Pons or Lionel Sow. As a soloist he has worked with orchestras such as Les talens Lyriques, la Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Ensemble Elyma, Musica Fiorita, Ensemble Semura Sonora, Ensemble Teatro Armonico, La Grande Chapelle or Trondheim Baroque Orchestra.In September 2019 he recorded with his ensemble Los Elementos the Spanish baroque zarzuela Vendado es Amor, no es ciego, de José de Nebra, for prestigious discographic label Glossa, published in June 2020.
