An evening with Rachmaninoff: Alexander Panfilov, Daria Parkhomenko and Daumants LiepinŠ qualified for the Piano Final of Enescu Competition 2018

Alexander Panfilov (Russia), Daria Parkhomenko (Russia) și Daumants LiepinŠ (Latvia)  qualified for the Final of the Piano Section at the George Enescu International Competition 2018. The results were announced on Friday evening by the specialized jury consisting of  Philippe Entremont (President of the Jury), Hyoung-Joon Chang, Dan Atanasiu, Dana Borșan, Andrei Pisarev, Pascal Rogé, Peter Jablonski și Philippe Dinkel.

The audience can listen to three different performances of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor Op. 30 by the three finalists on Sunday, September the 23rd, at the Romanian Athenaeum, starting 7.00 p.m. Bucharest time. The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Vassily Sinaisky.

The Piano Final ends this edition of the George Enescu International Competition. Tickets are sold-out, but the final will be broadcasted live internationally on www.festivalenescu.ro.

Alexander Panfilov (Russia) is born on the 13th of April 1989 and graduated from Gnessin Music School and Moscow State Conservatory (Prof. Andrei Diev) and  completed his postgraduate studies at Royal Northern College of Music in London (Prof. Graham Scott).  He has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall New York, Musikverein Vienna, Tonhalle Zurich, Wigmore Hall London, alongside Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Verdi Orchestra Milan, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

Born on 28th of April 1991, Daria Parkhomenko (Russia) currently studying at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg ( Stepan Simonian) and Fiesole School of Music (Prof. Eliso Virsaladze). She has performed in renowned concert halls such as Big Hall of Rostov Regional Philharmonic, Hamburger Laeiszhalle and Sendesaal Bremen, Mariinskij Concert Hall, alongside Norddeutschen Philarmonic Rostock, Lithuanian National Philharmonic, Tallin National Orchestra, Kaunas Orchestra, Tainan Artists Orchestra.

Daumants LiepinŠ (Latvia) is born on the 2nd of December 1994. He is currently studying at Ingesund School of Music/Karlstad University in Sweden (prof. Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist). LiepinŠ performed with orchestras such as Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and Kaunas Symphony Orchestra.  In 2016, he was chosen to be one of the four participants of Mitsuko Uchida Workshop in Carnegie Hall.

Organized as a stand-alone event since the 2014 edition, “George Enescu” International Competition invites the audience to discover some of the most talented young artists today, great names of tomorrow’s classical music, and to follow and support their journey to the top: winning the competition. This year “George Enescu” International Competition celebrates 60 years after the first edition of the Competition.
