Exhibitions, installations and permanent projects 

24.09 – Extraordinary recital with pianist Valentin Gheorghiu and the violinist Gabriel Croitoru (playing the Guarneri violin that belonged to George Enescu). Programme with works by George Enescu. Free admission. Location: Lecture Hall of the Cantacuzino Palace (George Enescu Museum); starting 6.00 p.m.

20.09 – 24.09 Strada de C’Arte, organised by “Carol I” Central University Library in partnership with “Carol I” University Foundation, includes: Strada de Carte (Book Street), with the participation of the biggest publishing houses and bookstores; music recitals; debates; Children’s Street, with painting, drawing and clay modelling workshops, exhibitions for children; Jazz and Poetry Runway, a literature and music show; Reading Room, with poetry recitals and book launches; Library Hall, theatre, concerts, film and documentary screenings; In the library, with guided tours and a book exhibition. Free admission. Location: the area of the equestrian statue of King Carol I.

2.09 – 24.09 “Glass Orchestra” – An interactive installation, created by the artist Iulia Năstase, specially for Enescu Festival 2017. It is an orchestra consisting of 30 life-size glass instruments, which visitors can “conduct” using a multimedia installation. Free admission. Location: the park in front of the Romanian Athenaeum, until September 13, then in front of the Palace Hall.

2.09 – 24.09 Enescu 360 Digital Exhibition, which allows visitors to travel in the footsteps of the composer George Enescu, experiencing a full tour of the George Enescu memorial houses in Liveni, Dorohoi and Sinaia, using virtual reality. Location: “George Enescu” National Museum.

2.09 – 24.09 George Enescu Tours, organised by Cultour Association, will take place every weekend (2-3 September; 9-10 September; 16-17 September; 23-24 September), for pedestrians and cyclists, in Romanian and English. Details on how to apply on www.asociatia-cultour.ro.

2.09 – 24.09 1 Constantin Esarcu Street – Art and Society – short documentary screenings, new images and photos of Enescu unknown to the Romanian public; interviews with important figures who knew George Enescu, broadcast live; contemporary art exhibitions, events in partnership with Maeght Foundation (France), multimedia broadcasts. Some of the exhibitions: Iioana Doubleeye (painting); Sorin Maxim (sculpture); RAID (street artist who is going to show his work at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao); Alexandru Potecă (sculpture). From the beginning of the George Enescu International Festival until its closing day, on 1 Constantin Esarcu Street, the audience can also taste the fantastic Rotenberg wine, which has a long tradition, and French delicacies – Bucate pe Roate and Opus. Location: 1 Constantin Esarcu Street. Rotenberg Uzunov Gallery.

2.09 – 24.09 Open Workshops in Artist Colonies and Individual Workshops. They can be visited every weekend (2-3 September/ 9-10 September, 16-17 September / 23-24 September), between 12 and 8 p.m., at the initiative of Făuritorii Association.

5.09 – 30.09 Galateca Gallery houses the exhibition Playing B-OSA, with the scenography of the architect Octavian Neculai, involving over 10 artists and architects. Playing B-OSA exhibition is the fixed, central point of the Art at the entrance manifestation, which will take place in the same period, in various areas of the Capital, as well as the starting point of the B-OSA Festival, Bucharest Open Street Art 2018.

A series of cafés and restaurants have prepared various menus “On musical notes”, inspired by the Enescu Festival or designed especially for the event, as they are our partners who support the Festival’s organisation: La Mama restaurants; Buongiorno and Hanu Berarilor restaurants; Paul cafés; Lente Arcului; Verona; Acuarela; Zexe; Modelier. Besides, as with the last two editions, Luca pretzel shops will make G-clef-shaped pretzels during the Festival.

8.09 – 24.09 The Exhibition “Imaginary – through the lens of mathematics” reveals to visitors the fascinating connection between music and mathematics, with 2D, 3D and interactive exhibits. Free admission. Location: the Foyer of the Radio Hall, 60-64 Gen. H. M. Berthelot Street, Bucharest. Visiting hours: 10.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m.
