Erika Grimaldi

Soprano

One of the most valued talents of the International opera scene, Erika Grimaldi is a pure soprano lirico with a warm, bright, adamantine timbre.

Born in Asti (Piedmont, Italy), she played the piano from the age of 5 and approached lyrical singing at the age of 16. After graduating from the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Turin both in singing (2001) and in piano (2003), she continued her studies with soprano Gabriella Ravazzi and she attended several masterclasses with Renato Bruson, Claudio Desderi, Ernesto Palacio and Bernadette Manca di Nissa.

In 2002 she participated in the International Opera Festival in Zurich and in the following years she has been awarded in several prestigious competition, such as ASLICO Competition in Como, International Competition “Giacomo Lauri Volpi” and the “European Community” Competition at Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto.

In 2008 Erika Grimaldi had her debut at Teatro Regio in Turin as Mimì in La bohème and in the same season she performed Medea, staged by Hugo de Ana, and The dame of spades by Tchaikovsky, under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda.

In 2010 she performed the role of Anaï in Moïse et Pharaon, for the season opening of Teatro dell’Opera in Rome with the conduction of Riccardo Muti. She has sung again under the baton of M° Muti in Nabucco, again at Opera di Roma, for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.

In 2016 she made her debut at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, singing the title of Giovanna d’Arco, conducted by Riccardo Chailly.

Among the many opera she has already performed, it is worth remembering the Mozart roles such as Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Contessa d’Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, and several Verdi roles such as Desdemona in Otello, Amelia in Simon Boccanegra, Nannetta and Alice in Falstaff, besides such roles as Micaela in Carmen, Liù in Turandot, Matilde in Rossini’s Guglielmo Tell.

Her concert repertoire includes Rossini’s Stabat Mater, performed at Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, at Palau de les Arts in Valencia and at Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome conducted by Nicola Luisotti, and Verdi Requiem, sung at Philarmonie in Paris, at Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, in London, in New York and on tour with Teatro Regio di Torino with M° Noseda.
