Jisoo Kim

SOUTH KOREA

Jisoo Kim was born in 2002 in Seoul, South Korea. She started to play the cello at the age of 8. She is currently studying in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, under the guidance of Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt.

She has recently received a special prize at the Unisa International Competition 2022 in Pretoria and is a 1st prize and overall string winner of the Vienna New Year’s Concert International Competition. She also won the 1st prize in The Music Association of Korea Competition, Grand prize at the Seoul Chamber Orchestra Music Competition, and the Grand prize at the Seoul Cello Ensemble Music Competition.

Jisoo Kim gave her first solo recital at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul at the age of 14. She performed with the Seoul Chamber Orchestra, New England Conservatory Ensemble, Seoul Cello Ensemble in Korea, and with the Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra in Germany.

She performed in the final concert of the Rutesheim Cello Festival in 2018. She participated in masterclasses given by David Geringas, Jens Peter Maintz, Troels Svane, Roland Pidoux, and Clive Greensmith. She is a scholarship holder at the Liechtenstein Music Academy since 2021.
