An outstanding resrentative of the younger generation of Russian conductors, Maxim Emelyanychev is passionately devoted to the music of the Baroque and Rennaisance periods. Alongside conducting, he performs as a versatile soloist, specializing in piano, harpsichord, fortepiano and cornetto.
Maxim is a prize-winner of numerous international competitions, among them: Hans von Bülow piano competition (Meiningen, 2012), Musica Antica harpsichord competition (Brugge, 2010), Volkonsky harpsichord competition (2010, Moscow).
Last year Maxim got the highest Russian theatre award “Golden Mask” as harpsichordist in stage production of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” of Perm opera theatre. The CD-recording of this production has been released by Sony Classics and highly praised by critics.
Born in 1988 to a family of musicians, Maxim Emelyanychev received his fundamental education in Nizhny Novgorod Choral College in the conducting class of Margarita Samorukova. He further completed his piano studies with Valery Starynin, and conducting studies with Alexander Skulsky in Nizhny Novgorod Balakirev Musical College. Maxim continued his education in the conducting class of Gennady Rozhdestvensky in Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. There he gathered important experience in fortepiano and harpsichord class with Maria Uspenskaya.
He collaborated with such artists as Riccardo Minasi, Max Emmanuel Cencic, Dmitry Sinkovsky, Alexei Lubimov, Theodor Currentzis, Gennady Rozhdestvensky.
He made his conducting debut at the age of 12 and conducted since then such numerous Russian and international renowned orchestras as “Helikon opera Moscow”, “New Russia” Symphony orchestra, State Chamber Russian orchestra, “Musica Viva” chamber orchestra, “Soloists of Nizhny Novgorod”, “Sinfonietta Sofia”, Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic orchestra, “il Pomo d’Oro” orchestra, “MusicAeterna” orchestra, Russian National Philharmonic orchestra to name a few. Maxim is the creator and leader of “Veritas” chamber orchestra.
During the season 2014/15 Maxim Emelyanychev conducts Il Pomo d’Oro in Handel’s opera “Tamerlano” in Versailles, Hamburg, Vienna, Koln as well as Mozart “Don Giovanni” at Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla. He also conducts symphonic concerts with soloists like Katia and Marielle Labeque, Max Emanuel Cencic, Xavier Sabata, Franco Fagioli.
