Mihai Ritivoiu is a London-based Romanian pianist, laureate of the George Enescu International Competition, who has performed throughout Europe and Japan, at venues such as the Barbican Centre and Cadogan Hall in London, Studio Ernest Ansermet in Geneva, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest and Konzerthaus Berlin. He has been a soloist with orchestras such as the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and MDR Leipzig, and collaborated with conductors Joshua Weilerstein, Robert Trevino, Cristian Mandeal, Christian Badea, Horia Andreescu and Michael Collins.
Mihai studied in Bucharest and London with professors Viniciu Moroianu and Joan Havill and attended masterclasses and post-graduate courses with Dominique Merlet, Dmitri Bashkirov, Emmanuel Ax and Ricardo Castro. He is also mentored by the Romanian pianist and composer Valentin Gheorghiu.
Mihai’s debut CD appeared in 2018 on the Genuin label and has been praised as “beautifully recorded, handsomely played – a solo recital to cherish” (The Arts Desk). In addition to solo performance, Mihai Ritivoiu is a keen and sought after chamber musician. He has been invited to numerous festivals, and forms a duo with the cellist Yoanna Prodanova, with whom he recently released a recording on Linn Records.
