Sir Bryn Terfel in recital at the Enescu Festival 2017. Pianist Lang Lang reschedules his Festival recital for a future edition

Sir Bryn Terfel, one of the most acclaimed bass-baritones in the world, winner of a Grammy Award, will take the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum on 5 September. Lang Lang reschedules his recital at the Enescu Festival 2017 for a future edition, for medical reasons.

Sir Bryn Terfel, one of the most appreciated bass-baritones in the world, winner of a Grammy, a Gramophone and a Classical Brit, famous for his roles on stages such as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan Opera, as well as for the recitals given all over the world, will take the stage of the Enescu Festival 2017 on September 5.

The recipient of a Grammy Award in 2013 for Best Opera Recording – for Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Metropolitan Opera –, Sir Bryn Terfel is also known for his appearance in the movie Sweeny Todd, opposite Emma Thompson.

On December 30, 2016, bass-baritone Bryn Terfel was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, during the annual New Year Honours organised by the British Royal Family.

In a message sent to the organisers of Enescu Festival, Lang Lang regrets to announce that he is forced to reschedule all his concerts in September, at his doctor’s recommendation, due to an inflammation of his left arm. Over the past few months, the pianist Lang Lang had to cancel for medical reasons several recitals scheduled all over the world, including those at the Elbphilharmonie and the Royal Albert Hall.

The tickets purchased for September 5, when Lang Lang’s recital was scheduled initially, remain valid. By showing them upon entering the concert hall, the audience can have access to the recital given by Bryn Terfel.

For those who wish the reimbursement of the ticket price, they may go to the stores or Eventim centres where the purchase was made, or they may send an e-mail at [email protected] if the ticket was bought online.
