Special prize awarded to the 4th place finalist of the Cello Section – Enescu Competition 2018

The prestigious “Blackmore International Music Academy” promotes young musicians and offers training for soloists, chamber and orchestral musicians on their professional steps towards achieving public recognition.  

For this edition of the „George Enescu” Competition, Mr. Dylan Blackmore, the CEO of the Blackmore International Music Academy, together with prof. David Geringas, will offer a special prize for the 4th finalist of the Cello Section – one voucher worth 1000 € for one of the cello masterclasses with Prof. David Geringas at the Blackmore International Music Academy in Berlin.

The Academy offers an experience that is at once intimate and intense, highly personalized and deeply collaborative by drawing highly skilled music tutors and educators with international pedagogic and orchestral performance experiences. Prof. David Geringas, the president of the jury – Cello Section – of the Enescu Competition 2018, is one of the regular honorable guest professors who gives masterclasses at the Blackmore International Music Academy.

The audience can listen to the four concertos with orchestra performed by the four finalists of the Section today, September 11th, at the Romanian Athenaeum, starting 6.00 p.m. Bucharest time in the Cello Section Final:  the Cello Concerto in B minor, op. 104 by Antonín Dvořák performed by the young cellist Stanislas Kim and also by Shizuka Mitsui and the Cello Concerto no. 1 in E flat major op. 107 by Dmitri Shostakovich performed by the young cellists Yibai Chen and Marcel Johannes Kits. The George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Paul Watkins.

Organized as a stand-alone event since the 2014 edition, „George Enescu” International Competition invites the audience to discover some of the most talented young artists of today, great names of tomorrow’s classical music, and to follow and support their journey to the top: winning the competition. This year „George Enescu” International Competition celebrates 60 years after the first edition of the Competition.
