Tickets to the concerts given by classical music stars such as the violinists Anne-Sophie Mutter and Julian Rachlin and the conductor Valery Gergiev are still available at the 2017 edition of the Enescu Festival. In addition, music lovers can still find tickets to multimedia premieres and famous performances of essential George Enescu works.
With 30,000 individual tickets sold out within hours since they went on sale on February 16 at 10 a.m. in the Eventim network and a total number of 34,000 tickets sold out in the first 24 hours, George Enescu International Festival had new record sales for the 2017 edition, too. Subscriptions to this year’s edition, which became available on December 5, were also sold out in record time.
The audience can still find individual tickets available to some of the concerts given by top classical music artists, as well as to premiere events of the Enescu Festival 2017.
For the series Great Orchestras of the World, among the concerts with available tickets are those given by classical music stars including the violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, who will play on September 8 with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Manfred Honeck, performing the Concerto for violin and orchestra in A minor op. 53 by Dvořák. The evening’s programme also includes the Symphonic Poem Vox Maris by George Enescu and Mahler’s resplendent Symphony No. 1 in D Major.
Another concert which you can still go to is the one given by Münchner Philharmoniker on September 10 conducted by the legendary Valery Gergiev, one of the most acclaimed conductors of the world. The soloist will be the young Romanian cellist Andrei Ioniță who won in 2015, at the age of 21, the First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Russia, one of the top three most important competitions in the world. Andrei Ioniță has already worked with musicians such as Gidon Kremer, Christian Tetzlaff at the Chamber Music Connects the World Festival and has performed in renowned halls including the Munich Herkulessaal, Berlin Kammermusiksaal, Basel Stadtcasino. He was invited by Valery Gergiev to play in London, Baden-Baden, Munich and Saint Petersburg.
You can also find tickets to some of the other concerts in the series Great Orchestras of the World, for instance, the two concerts given by Royal Concergebouw Amsterdam, at the end of the Festival, on September 23 and 24. Conducted by Danielle Gatti, the prestigious Dutch orchestra will give two concerts in Bucharest as part of an international tour in the European Union, entitled Side by Side, which aims to further unite the various European cultures through music. The audience can also find the last available tickets for the concert given by the de Filarmonica della Scala on September 15, with the soloist Julian Rachlin playing the viola.
Two other key moments of the Enescu Festival 2017 are the opening concert with Oedipe by George Enescu, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski on September 2 and the concert performed by Orchestra e Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by Antonio Pappano, who will play the Symphony no. 3 in C major op. 21 by George Enescu for the first time, on September 21; tickets are still available.
For the series Recitals and Chamber Music, you can still find tickets to London Philharmonic Players performing Mendelsshon and Enescu.
In the By Midnight series, the audience can enjoy a premiere: Ensemble en Chordais, Ensemble Constantinopole and the Anton Pann Choir will bring The Music Voyages of Marco Polo for the first time before the audience of the Festival, a rare selection of old works, collected from the folklore of various countries by the Greek composer and musician Kyriakos Kalaitzidis. The concert on 16 September, for which you can still find available tickets, will also be accompanied by novel multimedia projections.
Moreover, you can still find tickets for the new series, launched for the first time at the 2017 edition, 21st Century Music, which brings together performances by some of the most important contemporary composers. 30 of them will discuss with the audience of Bucharest at the International Composers’ Forum, with free entrance based upon prior registration.
With a new first-class international directing team – Zubin Mehta, Honorary President and Vladimir Jurowski, Artistic Director, the Enescu Festival 2017 will put the music and creation of George Enescu in a new light, as well as classical and contemporary music in general. As part of this endeavor, the Festival will put technology to the service of classical music and creativity, presenting famous works in a new approach and it will give the audience the chance to enjoy a record number of works by George Enescu (37) – two of which will be presented at the Festival for the first time. The 2017 edition will also tune mathematics to the sound of music, inside Creative Bucharest. Imaginary – an interactive exhibition about mathematics and music – will be an absolute premiere for Romania.
