Watch here the Semifinal of the Violin Section

On Monday, May 17, from 9:00 AM (EEST), the Violin Semifinal of the George Enescu International Competition 2020/2021 will take place at the Romanian Athenaeum and consists of recitals of the competitors admitted after the first two stages of the Competition. Their program includes works by Enescu, Saint-Saëns, Grieg, Waxman, Milstein, Brahms, Wieniawski, Fauré and Ravel.

The 8 violinists admitted to the Semifinals are: Gennaro Cardaropoli (Italy), Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev (Turkey/Azerbaijan), Jeewon Kim (South Korea), Tassilo Probst (Germany), Tomotaka Seki (Japan), Valentin Serban (Romania), Ayaka Uchio (Japan), and Jaewon Wee (South Korea). The online access of the public to the Semifinals will be free of charge on the Competition’s website: www.festivalenescu.ro.

Competitors enter in alphabetical order and the results of the Semifinal will be announced around 10 PM (GMT+3). You can find the complete information here.

The selected competitors will participate in the final of the violin section and will perform together with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Wilson Hermanto. The event will take place on May 19, 2021 at 6:00 PM (GMT+3), at the Romanian Athenaeum, in Bucharest.

The international jury of the 2020 Enescu Violin Competition is led by Dmitry Sitkovetsky and comprised of Remus Azoiței, Koichiro Harada, Silvia Marcovici, Mihaela Martin, Igor Petrushevski, Eduard Schmieder, and Krzysztof Wegrzyn.
