The Enescu Festival Online continues between March 30 and April 2 with a program presented by the Orchestre National de France conducted by Ion Marin, with Alexandra Dariescu as soloist. The concert was performed during the 2019 George Enescu International Festival, at the Grand Palace Hall.
The Orchestre National de France opened with George Enescu’s Suite No. 1 Op. 9 and ended the performance with a creative interpretation of the Images pour orchestre Suite by Claude Debussy – playing its three parts in a different order than set in the original score. In between, Ravel’s Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra, a concerto full of poetry with stylistic allusions to the music of Rachmaninoff, Gershwin or Debussy, was gracefully interpreted by Alexandra Dariescu, an expressive and refined Romanian artist with a soaring career.
An outstanding personality of the international music scene, Ion Marin is one of the few conductors who approach with as much passion and skill the field of both symphonic and opera music. He has worked widely as a guest conductor at opera houses internationally and has conducted virtually all the great European orchestras.
Alexandra Dariescu is a musician with an impressive track record, who has played piano on well-known stages worldwide such as Carnegie Hall, Barbican, Royal Albert Hall, or Konzerthaus in Vienna, and continues to win the hearts of her audiences wherever she performs.
